Dr. Baelheit, please check your inbox. I have a proposal that you may find intriguing.

Greetings, Doctor Baelheit... It has been a while, hasn't it?

Ordinarily I'd leave you to your own devices and wait for your contact first, but I've noticed some intriguing energy spikes coming from the vicinity of your laboratory recently... and curiosity has the better of me. Should I take this as a sign that you are making progress on the synthetic energon formula?

Dr. Baelheit,

I have made progress on the synthetic energon formula. It remains incomplete, but the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit into place. Unsurprisingly, the elements involved are unusual – some are entirely unfamiliar to me. The molecular structure of what has been completed of the formula seems equally unusual and unfamiliar. I have not learned so much in so short a time since the beginning of my employment at Mintaka Industries. I am eager to continue work on this project; the final formula will undoubtedly be a fascinating feat of chemistry.

The specifics of my progress are outlined in the document attached to this email. As always, your insight, should you find a need to provide it, is valuable and appreciated.

Dr. Frost

[Sure enough, there's an attachment labelled "SE Formula 1.1". Chock full of very scientific language, it has various notes comparing formula versions 1.0 and 1.1 and summarizing the points of refinement.]

[At least, it's technically to the general company address. It somehow also manages to end up in his private inbox, even though that particular address isn't officially on the list of intended recipients.

Attached is a very nicely written and formatted business letter, which will have to be paraphrased here since I don't actually have any idea how to write Business Partnership Proposal Letters.

Which is what it is, incidentally.

It's written as if from some vague, high-up position in Aperture's management, explaining that they've heard very good things about both Mintaka's R&D capabilities and Baelheit himself. There may or may not be an incredibly subtle reference to his rumored time with TRIDENT hidden in there, somewhere.

The letter goes on to explain that Aperture has been looking for partners with whom to collaborate on their latest projects - giving a few short examples - and that if Mintaka is interested, they would be happy to talk.

It ends with an official Aperture email address, but there's no name or signature attached.]
